Bits n Bobs

Bella wasn't the least concerned about 21.12.12 !

Lot's of space around the edges for me to journal about something that was on my mind.. that you can't read ;o)

Work in progress. My step daughter was getting married in Cape Town yesterday and I started painting this while she was getting married.

Foundational layers in progress.

Ceramic Journals

Everything I do seems to have a journal element to it. Underneath the cake stand it reads... who says you can't have your cake and eat it. The colourful abstracts say, create, inspire, believe. I had nothing particular in mind when I was painting these ceramics but reading words on anything really fascinates me so the ceramics had to give some message as well. The last little dish... the doodle and the heart says it all. This is one of my favourite pieces.

Faces Journal

These pages were also done years ago in a journal that I found today ! I need to start writing again. often when I see other peoples journals I am curious to know what size pages they are working on.
Well just to let you know that these are all in an A4 Journal

Mothers and daughters

Sharing this page which I found in an old journal. This is not my style of journaling, too much to do before I get writing. I read on someones blog that some people enjoy all the art that goes into journaling and other people like all the journaling that goes into art. I am the latter. :o)

Sharing Backgrounds

I was sorting through some journals today and came across these pages I did in a journal years ago. I must do something with them because I loved the way they came out.
How? Well first I roughly went over the whole page with modge purposely missing bits. Then I took some inks I had and rubbed them all over the pages which shows up the texture created by the modge podge, it thickens the paper as well which is great because when you add things the paper can take it.
Stamp with stazon inkpads. The hearts are just cut out of other pattened paper. If I use these pages in December, which I intend doing, I will post some pictures.

Today's Snoop, has nothing to do with Journals

This post has absolutely nothing to do with Journals but I found this on the internet and just had to share it with you. Such interesting mixed media art work.

Snooping on Dianne Bishop Carey

Through out the year I am blessed to find some incredible artists on line and love sharing my 'finds' I saw this journal page today and thought it was worth sharing because I think so many people who like to journal get so frustrated and disappointed with their own journal pages. This really hits the nail on the head.

You can see more journal pages here.

Old Journals from the 80's

These are just some old journal pages from a trip I went on in the early 80's. First I went to London to hook up with some friends from Durban and then went on to see my father who lived in Scotland and before coming home I went on a wonderful camping tour around Europe through France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Austria, the Greek islands, Yugaslavia, Amsterdam of course not in that order, but it was an experience I will never forget.
My journals have never left my side since then and have served their purpose way beyond documenting places I have visited and people I have met, but they contributed a lot to  my healing journey.
